Ujamaa Community Land Trust is a newly formed organization responding to the reality that community-controlled and community-owned land is necessary for sustained access to healthy food for all residents. The group has created the African Garden Project (AGP) with a focus on produce based in the culture of Africa and Africans in America. Locally grown produce from Perry Ave Community Farm is sold based on the “pay what you can afford” model. Seedling propagation begins in the fall at the Refractory, located on the Chicago State University campus.
